Many years ago the center of Denver's downtown core was demolished by wrecking balls to make way for modern buildings and structures. During that time only one spot of the whole of the downtown area was spared; Larimer Square.
Home to the city's first bank, as well as the first dry goods and bookstore, Larimer Square is a trip back to Denver past that is absolutely beautiful to explore.
Annual events are usually held in Larimer Square to take full advantage of this pretty area. Make sure to check out the area when you're in town, since festivals and events are fairly commonly held here.
Located six miles outside of Denver city, Wings Over The Rockies is a great museum for aviation enthusiasts to explore and enjoy.
From bombers to spacecraft, all ranges of aviation are featured inside the museum, even including a prop from the popular movie series Star Wars.
If you're planning a trip to Wings Over The Rockies, you may wish to try to delay your visit until the second Saturday of the month, since that is when they hold 'Demo Cockpit Day', which affords visitors the chance to actually sit in the cockpits of a variety of planes!
Don't miss out on this fun day out, and make sure to bring along a date so you can enjoy the absolute most out of your entire experience!
Elitch Gardens is a fabulous amusement park located in the heart of Denver's downtown. After almost 100 years of serving the local community, Elitch Gardens was relocated in 1995 and has been thrilling even more visitors ever since!
You'll find amusement rides, arcade games, water slides and all totaling more than 45 exciting rides on 70 acres of land! The fastest ride in the park travels at an impressive 60mph. The tallest drop comes from a 200-foot tower ride with the Tower of Doom, and plenty more thrill rides, as well as some less intimidating ones, are available for all to enjoy.
